Is the opposition of heat transfer from one place to another due to the movement of fluid.
Example: Natural convection resistance of the pool water is enough to cool the core.

It is the radius of insulation before heat transfer increases and after heat transfer decreases.
Example: Adding insulation to a cylindrical pipe or a spherical shell will increase the rate of heat transfer if the outer radius of the insulation is less than the critical radius of insulation.

It is defined as the ratio of the actual heat transfer that takes place from the fin to the heat that would be dissipated from the same surface area without fin.
Example: The performance of the fins is judged on the basis of the enhancement in heat transfer relative to the no-fin case and is expressed in terms of the fin effectiveness.

Is the ratio of the heat transferred by a fin to the heat that would have been transferred if the total fin surface were at the base (or wall) temperature.
